Today Riga Waterfront is delighted to announce the opening of reservations for apartments in Plaza Residences, the third building of real estate development. Located in the central area of the project, Plaza Residences is part of the quarter being developed around the historic electric power plant. This new building joins the previously launched Courtyard Residences and Club Residences.
“Since the launch of our first building in June this year, followed by the second shortly thereafter, we have seen a strong response from young families in Riga, foreign professionals working in the city, and members of the Latvian diaspora abroad about Riga Waterfront as their future place to live and work. Today, we are thrilled to introduce Plaza Residences, with breathtaking views of the Daugava River. Meanwhile, preparations for the road infrastructure and the construction of the first Riga Waterfront building are well underway,” said Hisham Ibrahim, Project Manager.
The design of Plaza Residences and the surrounding quarter has been entrusted to renowned architects. FaulknerBrowns Architects from UK (residential building architecture), in collaboration with Hosoya Schaefer Architects from Switzerland (masterplan) and Vilnis Mičulis from Latvia (powerplant reconstruction), are shaping the vision of this dynamic area. Sarma&Norde (Latvia) as a lead consultant is providing expert guidance for the buildings.
The quarter is designed to be a pedestrian-friendly environment, reflecting the architectural diversity characteristics of Riga’s city center. Guided by Smart City principles, the development prioritizes energy efficiency, intelligent traffic management, and the integration of renewable energy. Public pedestrian and cycling areas, along with environmentally friendly building materials, further emphasize the project’s commitment to sustainability.
“The architecture of Plaza Residences draws inspiration from Riga’s city centre,” explained architect Fricis Vilnis. “The six-story building will feature a height accent on the southern part of the building and a distinctive brick façade to harmonise with the local aesthetic. Additionally, we are prioritizing energy efficiency and sound insulation to meet Class A standards, ensuring maximum comfort for residents.”
Plaza Residences will feature a mix of a total of 80 one- to three-bedroom apartments, complemented by commercial spaces on the ground floor. Residents will enjoy a 750m² spacious, landscaped terrace on the second floor—an ideal spot for relaxation and quality time. The building’s basement level will provide secure parking and ample bicycle storage, complete with maintenance facilities.
